We are delighted to inform that our practice work very closely with our patient group known by the name Birchwood Support Group.
Birchwood Support Group has been formed in early 2011 and has been meeting regularly.
Our current elected members (as of January 2016) for the following positions of the Patient support group:
Chair - Mrs. Liz James
Vice-Chair - Mrs. Joan Robinson
Secretary - Mrs. Stella Price
Patient Educational Lead - Mr. Michael Wlashaw
Clinical Commissioning Group Lead for the practice - Mr. Richard Willcox
Communication Support - Mr Stephan Price
We have 22 committee members from various age groups and ethinic backgrounds.
Mr. Willcox represents the patient group views to ESyDOc Patient Reference Group. He also takes lead as our representative in all external meetings.
The group also has virtual members who are in constant communication.
We have worked together with the practice and recommended some changes which we feel are more patient friendly. You may have already seen or experienced some of the changes at the practice. For instance more appointments can be booked in advance, and even better extra slots are available on the day you ring. Much is going on in the background and hopefully we will be able to provide more news on these projects in the near future. We are very fortunate that we have a practice that is open to change for the better and holds the patient’s best interest as its core value. Please use the “suggestion box” for ideas that we can take on board, we have already found the suggestions very helpful.
You can also contact us by email on firstname.lastname@example.org
We would like to hear your views and ideas on what you would like to see from the surgery, so we can identify areas for improvement and influence the development of the local health services. You can email your suggestions to email@example.com Alternatively use the suggestion box for the patient group at the reception.
Members of the group meet regularly on a two monthly basis. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to be invited for the next meeting.
Birchwood Support Group regularly organises educational events for patients to attend. First educational event was on Hypertension (High Blood Pressure) and was held on the 12th of September 2011. Please see "educational event" tab for the future events.
We at Birchwood Medical Practice value your feedback.
Please visit NHS Choices or 'I want great care'.
We are really grateful for your support and thank you for your feedback.

Patient Survey in 2013-2014
A survey was conducted in October 2013 to explore and seek patients' view on the service we provide. This survey was independantly designed by the patient group and agreed with the practice. The aim was to survey the patients for availablity of appointments, Pre-bookable appointments. We also looked at the satisfaction with consultation with the Doctors & Nurses. Important aspect of the survey was also on reception staff and patients satisfaction with them and the service as a whole. We also looked if the patients would recommend the practice to friends and family.
